Roses Room — Toddlers (2 Years)
The Roses Room is a vibrant, nurturing space for our energetic and curious two-year-olds. At this age, children are developing their sense of identity, independence, and social awareness. Our educators support this growth through play-based learning, gentle routines, and opportunities for self-expression. It’s a room full of laughter, movement, and meaningful connections.
Sharoon Room — Babies & Early Toddlers (3 Months to 2 Years)
The Sharoon Room is a warm, secure haven where our youngest children begin their journey of growth and discovery. Designed for babies and early toddlers, this space encourages emotional bonding, sensory exploration, and early developmental milestones. With soft lighting, age-appropriate toys, and loving caregivers, the Sharoon Room is a place where little ones feel safe and cherished.
Orchid Rooms 1 & 2 — Pre-School (3 to 5 Years)
Our Pre-School, known as the Orchid Room, is where children begin to flourish as independent thinkers and learners. Guided by Montessori principles, we encourage children to “do it themselves” while offering gentle support and rich learning experiences. Whether they’re practicing early literacy, exploring nature, or engaging in imaginative play, the Orchid Room fosters confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Sensory Room — All Ages
The Sensory Room at Nurture House Montessori is a magical, multi-sensory environment designed to support emotional regulation, sensory exploration, and calm focus. Whether a baby is discovering textures, a toddler is learning to self-soothe, or a pre-schooler is exploring light and sound, this peaceful retreat nurtures the senses and supports holistic development. It’s a space where every child can pause, reflect, and reconnect.
Child Learning
Our curriculum blends the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with Montessori principles, creating a nurturing and child-centered environment. Each child is supported by a dedicated key person who observes, assesses, and plans individualized learning experiences. We emphasize strong partnerships with parents, sharing progress through a learning journal to ensure every child thrives. The curriculum focuses on both Prime Areas—personal, social and emotional development, communication and language, and physical development—and Specific Areas including literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
We nurture children's independence and confidence through practical life activities that mirror real-world tasks. From polishing and pouring to sorting, sweeping, and using dressing frames, these hands-on experiences build coordination, concentration, and self-esteem. As children master these simple yet meaningful tasks, they become self-motivated and increasingly competent. To support social growth, we offer rich opportunities for imaginative play—including dress-ups, role play, home corner, and construction—encouraging children to collaborate, express themselves, and form lasting friendships.
Physical Development
We support children's physical growth through both refined motor activities and energetic play. Tasks like carefully selecting materials from low-level shelves, holding a pencil correctly, and walking with control help develop balance, coordination, and precision. Outdoors, children enjoy climbing, throwing and catching, parachute games, and other physical exercises that build strength and agility. A rolling snack system promotes healthy habits, with free access to fruit and drinks and a strong focus on handwashing. We also encourage independence in self-care—such as using the toilet, putting on coats and boots—while always offering support when needed.
Communication & Language
We create a language-rich environment where children are encouraged to listen, speak, and express themselves confidently. Daily interactions, storytelling, and group discussions help build vocabulary and conversational skills. Children are supported in developing active listening, understanding instructions, and articulating their thoughts clearly. Through songs, rhymes, and role play, we nurture both verbal and non-verbal communication, laying a strong foundation for literacy and social connection.
Literacy
Our literacy approach begins with emergent writing and phonics, encouraging children to explore language through creative and tactile experiences. Freestyle drawing supports early mark-making, while shape inset frames develop pencil control. Children trace sandpaper letters to learn phonic sounds and letter formation, preparing them for writing. Reading begins with phonic-based word-building using a large moveable alphabet, gradually progressing through structured levels. A wide selection of storybooks and picture references invites children to enjoy reading, sparking imagination and encouraging them to share ideas and retell stories with growing confidence.
Mathematics
We introduce mathematical concepts through hands-on exploration and play, helping children develop a strong foundation in numeracy. Activities include counting, sorting, matching, and sequencing, using tactile materials that make abstract ideas concrete. Children explore shapes, patterns, and measurements, building problem-solving skills and logical thinking. Through everyday routines—like setting the table, sharing snacks, or tidying up—they begin to understand number relationships and basic operations in meaningful, practical contexts.
Expressive Arts & Design
We nurture creativity by offering children a wide range of artistic mediums to explore and express themselves freely. From painting and collage to cutting, sticking, dough work, and messy play, children are encouraged to experiment and create with confidence. For those with a natural creative flair, we provide inspiring and challenging activities to deepen their artistic journey. Music is also a key part of our curriculum—children sing nursery rhymes, perform action songs, and explore rhythm using percussion instruments, developing both musical awareness and joyful self-expression.
Understanding of the world
Finding out about the world around them is what babies and young children do very effectively when they investigate by touching, holding or pressing things and by climbing on and jumping off things. Older children love to explore and investigate how and why things work and to test out their ideas of what will happen if they do a particular thing like pouring more and more water into a container, for example.
